The Family Day Disappears: Workers Will Have a New Benefit If They Meet Requirements

Caracol Radio
Labor and employment attorney Camilo Cuervo was interviewed by Caracol Radio about the disappearance of the Family Day as a benefit for workers in Colombia as a result of the gradual reduction of the workweek from 48 to 42 hours, which will conclude in July 2026. Mr. Cuervo noted that despite the elimination of this benefit, workers will benefit from a shorter workday and will be able to access one paid day off every six months if they meet certain criteria, such as using a bicycle as a means of transportation.

"It should allow workers to have this time with their families without affecting their rest days, without prejudice to agreeing on complementary work schedules," he stated.
