Labor and employment attorney Camilo Cuervo was cited in an Asuntos Legales article about the approval of the pension reform in Colombia and its impact on the rules for pension contributions for domestic workers with part-time contracts. According to Law 2466 of 2025, employers must formalize the employment relationship through a written contract and register it in the Integrated Contribution Settlement Form (PILA). Mr. Cuervo explained that, while the 2025 pension reform remains suspended by the Constitutional Court, pension calculations for these workers continue to be governed by Law 100 of 1993, meaning they are subject to both the public Colpensiones system and private pension funds, depending on their income.
"Domestic workers, with the reform and even before, this isn't a new issue, it's something that has been around for a long time," he said. "They have the same rights."
