Pension Reform: Women Would Be the Main Beneficiaries of the Reduction in Contribution Weeks

Labor and Employment attorney Diego Acevedo was quoted by Valora Analitik in an article on Colombia's pension reform, highlighting its focus on gender and challenges in long-term sustainability. He noted that reducing the required weeks of contributions will make it easier for more women to qualify for a pension, although gaps in benefit amounts will persist as a result of lower average wages and contribution density.

"To strengthen equity and the financial soundness of the pension system, establishing robust technical governance and conducting periodic actuarial evaluations are recommended," he said.
