Companies Will Have Until December 20 to Pay the Year-End Bonus
Labor and Employment attorney Camilo Cuervo was cited in an Asuntos Legales article about the Christmas bonus for workers in Colombia. He highlighted that December 20 is the deadline to pay this benefit, with the goal of allowing employees to use the money during the holiday break. The article also explained how to calculate the bonus, who can receive it and what the consequences of not paying it are. Mr. Cuervo said in these cases, employees can ask the Ministry of Labor to intervene, and although it cannot force an employer to pay, it can impose fines for not doing so.
