Scott Williams, Former General Counsel of Rail America, Joins Holland & Knight

Jacksonville, Fla. (December 18, 2013) – Holland & Knight is pleased to announce that attorney Scott Williams has joined the firm's Jacksonville office. Mr. Williams is the former senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of the publicly-traded railroad holding company, RailAmerica, Inc., and the former general counsel of Florida East Coast Railway, L.L.C. Prior to joining RailAmerica in 2002, Mr. Williams was a partner in the West Palm Beach office of Shutts & Bowen with a practice focused on real estate and business transactions.

Mr. Williams concentrates his practice in the areas of business and real estate transactions, railroad and transportation matters, and public company governance and securities compliance. Specifically, he is experienced in handling mergers and acquisitions, dispositions, financings and syndications, commercial real estate transactions and financings, Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA) and railroad injury claims. He advises clients on railroad industry contracting, railroad regulatory matters, NYSE and SEC regulatory compliance, and a variety of public company governance and employment matters.
