Holland & Knight Strengthens Structured Finance and Aircraft Finance Practices with New Partner Richard B. Furey
MIAMI (June 5, 2014) — Holland & Knight is pleased to announce that Richard B. Furey has joined the firm's Structured Finance and Aircraft Finance practices as a partner. He will be based in the firm's New York office and split his time with the Miami office.
Mr. Furey focuses his practice on international and U.S. domestic asset and infrastructure finance. He has significant experience in the aviation sector and has represented a variety of aircraft lessors, lenders and investors, including BBAM Aircraft Management, International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC), Aviation Capital Group (ACG), Wells Fargo Bank, BNP Paribas and Natixis. In addition, Mr. Furey has experience in the financing of other asset classes such as rail and satellites, including his representation of the investors to O3b Network and Globalstar. He was featured as a rising star by Airfinance Journal in 2010 and has been recognized as a top lawyer in his field by The International Who's Who of Aviation Lawyers each year since 2011.
Mr. Furey is the second aircraft finance partner that Holland & Knight has hired this year. In February, Juan Carlos "J.C." Ferrer joined the firm's Miami office.
"We are extremely pleased that Rich will be joining our growing team," said John Pritchard, leader of Holland & Knight's Aircraft Finance Team. "Because aircraft finance and leasing is such a specialized practice, it can be difficult to find an attorney with the right talent and experience. We've found an excellent match in Rich, and our attorneys in Miami and New York look forward to working with him."
"Holland & Knight has an excellent reputation in the aviation industry for its sophisticated finance and leasing practice and for the quality of its attorneys," said Mr. Furey. "I'm proud to be joining the team and I'm excited about the opportunities that we will pursue together in the future."
Mr. Furey received his B.A. degree from Georgetown University and his J.D. degree from Syracuse University College of Law. He is admitted to practice in New York, Connecticut and Florida. Mr. Furey was previously a partner with White & Case in Miami.
