Holland & Knight Named Banking & Finance Litigation “Law Firm of the Year” by U.S. News – Best Lawyers

MIAMI (November 1, 2019) – Holland & Knight has been selected "Law Firm of the Year" in banking and finance litigation by U.S. News – Best Lawyers in its 2020 "Best Law Firms" listings, which were released today.

U.S. News – Best Lawyers selects only one firm in each of the more than 70 nationally ranked practice areas to receive this prestigious recognition. The rigorous evaluation process included the collection of client and lawyer evaluations and peer reviews from leading attorneys in their fields. Only those firms with the most impressive overall performance were chosen.

"The firm's designation as "Law Firm of the Year' in banking and finance litigation is an outstanding achievement well earned by a talented, dedicated and diverse team of litigators," said Christopher G. Kelly, head of Holland & Knight's Litigation Section. "Our financial services clients are faced with complex and ever-changing regulations from state and federal regulators alike, as well as litigation ranging from individual claims to class actions. It is gratifying to have this independent confirmation from clients across the financial services spectrum that we are, indeed, among their most trusted advisors and counsel."

"Our national Financial Services Team is one of the largest of any law firm and its members can be found in almost every major U.S. city," said William Shepherd, co-leader of Holland & Knight's Financial Services Industry Group and white collar defense attorney. "The depth and experience of our group make us an ideal partner for all types of banks and trust companies, secured lenders, pension funds and private equity funds."

"We are honored by this designation and grateful to our clients for their positive feedback," said Suzanne Gilbert, co-leader of the Financial Services Litigation Practice. "The team's success over the past several years is owed to our deep understanding of the industry and laws that regulate it. In fact, many of our members are former prosecutors or regulators. Because of our collective experience, there is very rarely an issue that we haven't faced before."

Holland & Knight's Financial Services Litigation Team includes more than 50 lawyers throughout the country who have extensive trial experience, including many who have served as federal or state prosecutors, or as counsel in key financial services regulatory agencies. The team is supported by more than two dozen related practices, including bankruptcy, anti-money laundering, anti-corruption, consumer class action, financial investigations, cybersecurity and privacy, securities and white collar defense.
