Holland & Knight Welcomes Tax Partner John Wertz in New York

NEW YORK (March 14, 2022) – Tax attorney John Wertz has joined Holland & Knight as a partner in the firm's New York office. Mr. Wertz focuses his practice on federal, state and local tax (SALT) planning, tax controversy and state tax legislative affairs. Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Wertz was a director with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

"John is a tremendous addition to our tax practice and his vast experience, particularly in SALT planning and advisory work, will be of immediate benefit to our firm and clients," said Todd Keator, co-head of the firm's Tax, Executive Compensation and Benefits Practice. "His business skills and legal acumen are in high demand, and we are thrilled he has joined our team."

Mr. Wertz has experience in a variety of tax issues, including tax controversy matters at the federal, state and local level. In addition, he has handled all phases of federal income tax (corporate, individual, partnership and estate), as well as prepared and tried cases before the U.S. Tax Court. Prior to joining PwC in 2020, Mr. Wertz served 15 years in senior management and tax counsel roles at Viacom Inc.

Mr. Wertz received an LL.M. degree in taxation from New York University School of Law, a J.D. degree from Boston College Law School and a B.A. degree from Boston College.
