The Florida Bar Names Holland & Knight Partner William R. Lane, Jr. Outstanding Tax Attorney of the Year

TAMPA, FL (May 1, 2023) – Holland & Knight Partner William R. Lane, Jr. was honored by The Florida Bar Tax Section as the 2022-2023 Gerald T. Hart Outstanding Tax Attorney of the Year at the Section's annual meeting in St. Pete Beach, Florida. on April 29, 2023.

Each year the Tax Section of The Florida Bar selects an individual who has made major contributions to the advancement of the practice of tax law and who exemplifies the highest standards of competence and integrity.

Mr. Lane is a partner in Holland & Knight's Tampa office and is the North/Central Florida regional team leader for the firm's Private Wealth Services Practice Group. He works primarily in the areas of estate planning, family business succession planning, charitable planning and administration and resolution of disputes involving trusts, estates, their fiduciaries and beneficiaries.

Mr. Lane served as the 2016-2017 Tax Section Chair and was a member of the drafting committees for the Florida Trust Code, the Florida Power of Attorney Act and the Florida Revised Limited Liability Company Act. He frequently lectures on these and other tax-related topics. In 2023, Mr. Lane was named the Trusts and Estates Lawyer of the Year in Tampa by The Best Lawyers in America.

Mr. Lane earned his J.D. degree from The University of Alabama School of Law and earned his LL.M. in Taxation from The University of Florida Levin College of Law.
