Holland & Knight Continues Building Its D.C. Litigation Practice with Addition of Legal Ethics Partner Courtney Miller
WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 27, 2026) – Holland & Knight has fortified its Washington, D.C., Litigation Practice Group with the addition of Courtney Miller as partner. Ms. Miller helps lawyers, law firms and legal industry clients navigate complex professional responsibility, risk management and regulatory issues. She joins from HWG LLP, where she served as a partner.
The Washington, D.C., Litigation Practice Group also welcomed Congressional Investigations Partner Ashley Joyner Chavous in April.
Ms. Miller advises on matters at the intersection of legal ethics, business operations and litigation, with experience spanning legal services transactions, attorney discipline, professional responsibility and related disputes. She represents lawyers and law firms in attorney discipline matters and related civil litigation, including proceedings before bar committees and in disciplinary proceedings, state and federal trial and appellate courts, and immigration court.
Clients also turn to Ms. Miller for guidance on legal ethics questions involving bar complaints, alleged misconduct, criminal conduct, fee disputes, partner transitions, unauthorized practice of law, bar admissions and the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI).

Prior to her private practice work, Ms. Miller clerked for the Honorable Catharine F. Easterly in the D.C. Court of Appeals and served as a law and policy fellow at the National LGBTQ Task Force.
Ms. Miller received a J.D. degree from the University of Virginia School of Law and a B.A. degree from Washington University in St. Louis. She is admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia.
