Overview
Fernando Tevez Butler is a business attorney in Holland & Knight's Tysons office. Mr. Butler focuses on mergers and acquisitions (M&A), with particular depth in the government contracts and national security sectors.
Mr. Butler regularly advises strategic acquirers, private equity sponsors and portfolio companies on control deals, minority investments and add‑on acquisitions, as well as counsels management teams across the deal life cycle, from pre-offer structuring and diligence through integration.
Mr. Butler has substantial experience with regulated‑industry transactions – including sales to and acquisitions by publicly traded government contracts, professional services and technology companies – and frequently coordinates multijurisdictional workstreams on cross‑border matters. He has served as lead global counsel on transactions spanning Canada, Europe, Asia, South Africa and Latin America and leverages professional fluency in French and Spanish on international engagements.
Mr. Butler also represents insureds in connection with transactional risk products, including the issuance of representations and warranties insurance (RWI) policies.
Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Butler was an attorney with a national law firm in its Richmond, Virginia, office. He represented borrowers, developers, underwriters, issuers and lenders in a range of transactions involving tax-exempt bonds, conventional debt, commercial contracts and governmental incentives, often in the context of nonrecourse project financings.
During law school, Mr. Butler served as a manuscripts editor for the Richmond Law Review, as well as a judicial intern for the Honorable Henry E. Hudson of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and the Honorable Roger L. Gregory of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
