Matthew "Matt" Covell is an Atlanta litigation attorney who focuses on complex commercial litigation, business torts and class action defense. Mr. Covell also represents private and public employers in all aspects of employment law and litigation, including discrimination matters, wage and hour class actions, and trials of statutory and common law claims. In addition, his representation includes systemic charges and complaints before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), state anti-discrimination agencies, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), and state wage and hour compliance agencies, as well as disability access cases under Title VII and state laws.
Mr. Covell advises clients on e-discovery issues, including document retention policies, proper litigation holds, as well as the collection, processing and production of electronic documents in response to discovery requests, government subpoenas and civil investigative demands (CIDs). In 2010, Mr. Covell completed the eDiscovery Training Academy at the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C.
Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Covell spent 16 years as a business litigator for two prominent law firms in Atlanta.
During law school, Mr. Covell served as a law clerk intern for the Honorable John C. Martin of the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
