Overview
Patrick Gilsenan is a business attorney in Holland & Knight's Chicago office and a member of the firm's Financial Services Team. Mr. Gilsenan focuses on a wide range of banking transactions including secured credit facilities and syndicated loan transactions. Additionally, his practice includes regulatory matters including broker-dealer regulation and SEC and CFTC regulatory compliance issues.
In addition to his legal skills and knowledge, Mr. Gilsenan is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and holds additional certifications in Data Analytics, Antitrust and Consumer Protection, Compliance Studies, and Public Interest and Social Justice.
Mr. Gilsenan's pro bono work focuses on immigration matters for at-risk populations and housing justice.
Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Gilsenan worked for self-regulatory organizations in the securities and derivatives industry, Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and National Futures Association (NFA). As a former regulator, Mr. Gilsenan frequently worked with brokerage and investment management firms that specialized in a variety of financial products. He has also handled policy work for the Chicago City Council as a committee aide and was previously a law clerk at a Chicago-based immigration firm.
During law school, Mr. Gilsenan was a student fellow with the Institute for Consumer Antitrust Studies and served as a senior editor on the Loyola University Chicago Journal of Regulatory Compliance. He participated in various public interest projects and clinics, including assisting with asylum cases, representing the interest of minors in custody disputes, assisting with eviction sealing workshops and guest lecturing about law and the legal system in Chicago Public School classrooms through Street Law.
