Overview
David Kuhn is a real estate attorney in Holland & Knight's New York office. He focuses his practice on representing institutional lenders, investment funds, real estate investment trusts (REITs), developers and joint ventures in complex commercial real estate transactions.
Mr. Kuhn advises clients on sophisticated financing and transactional matters involving a broad range of asset classes, including office, retail, multifamily, hospitality, industrial and mixed-use properties. His experience includes acquisition, construction, repositioning and permanent financings, as well as mortgage, mezzanine, commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS), balance sheet and preferred equity transactions. He also has a significant background with joint venture and co-lender arrangements, ground leases, purchase and sale agreements and loan workouts.
Mr. Kuhn is also a published author on emerging issues related to digital assets under U.S. law, having authored a multi-part policy series on the evolution of prediction market contracts and endogenous risk principles latent in existing investment contract doctrine.
Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Kuhn served as general counsel to a global sports and entertainment company, where he advised on a variety of commercial real estate and finance matters. Previously, he spent nine years practicing at leading New York law firms, where he represented clients on more than $5 billion in aggregate commercial real estate financings.

- Represented an institutional lender in the origination and syndication of $502 million in construction financing for a large-scale condominium development in Queens, New York

- Represented a joint venture in connection with $530 million in mortgage and mezzanine financing for the renovation of an office and retail complex in Los Angeles
- Represented a property owner in connection with $410 million in financing for the renovation of an office and retail building in Manhattan
- Represented an institutional lender in the origination and syndication of $138 million in construction financing for a luxury condominium in Miami
- Represented a mezzanine lender in $30 million in mezzanine financing for the development of a hotel in Midtown Manhattan
- Represented a real estate investment trust in connection with $229 million in financing for a portfolio of office buildings in Westchester, New York
