Robert M. Shaw is a partner in Holland & Knight's Boston office and a member of the firm's Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group.

Mr. Shaw has extensive experience defending class actions, having represented defendants in precedent-setting cases arising out of consumer claims, employment practices and catastrophic disasters. These have included allegations of unfair and deceptive trade practices, unlawful advertising, breach of warranty, negligence, violation of employment statutes and many other causes of action.

In addition, Mr. Shaw has extensive experience litigating commercial disputes, including cases alleging breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, misappropriation of trade secrets, trademark and copyright infringement, Lanham Act violations and many other claims. Mr. Shaw also represents businesses facing attorney general or regulatory investigations.

Mr. Shaw has been honored to represent several foreign sovereigns and their state-owned enterprises in litigation in the United States, including the government of the United Kingdom and the government of Ukraine.

He has a very active appellate practice, having handled appeals in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First, Ninth, Eleventh and District of Columbia Circuits, as well as the Massachusetts Appeals Court and Supreme Judicial Court.

In his active pro bono practice, Mr. Shaw has represented several candidates for political asylum, an abused prisoner and a disabled child.
