Robert M. Shaw is a partner in Holland & Knight's Boston office and a member of the firm's Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group.

Mr. Shaw focuses on complex commercial litigation and arbitration. He has effectively litigated claims for breach of contract, misappropriation of trade secrets, negligence, breach of fiduciary duty, violation of employment statutes, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the False Claims Act (FCA), as well as trademark and copyright infringement, defamation, constitutional violations and many other causes of action.

In addition, Mr. Shaw has represented defendants in precedent-setting Massachusetts class actions arising out of employment practices, a catastrophic coastal oil spill, a lengthy power outage and various consumer complaints. Mr. Shaw has also represented insurers, utilities and other businesses facing regulatory and attorney general scrutiny.

Mr. Shaw has been honored to represent several foreign governments and their state-owned enterprises.

He has a very active appellate practice, having recently handled cases in the Massachusetts Appeals Court, the Supreme Judicial Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First, Ninth and Eleventh Circuits.

In his active pro bono practice, Mr. Shaw has represented several candidates for political asylum, an abused prisoner and a disabled child.
