Overview
Tyler Washington is a commercial real estate attorney in Holland & Knight's Chicago office. Mr. Washington represents institutional, private equity, developer and corporate clients in all facets of real estate ownership.
Mr. Washington counsels clients in the drafting and negotiating of purchase and sale agreements, commercial leases, loan documents, and easement and reciprocal access agreements in connection with the acquisition, disposition, financing and operation of various property types, including student housing, multifamily residential, industrial, office, retail and other property classes throughout the U.S. Mr. Washington also analyzes and coordinates all phases of transactional due diligence, including title, survey and zoning review.
Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Washington was a commercial real estate attorney at an international law firm in its Chicago office.
While in law school, Mr. Washington served as a senior editor of the Michigan Law Review and a junior editor of the Michigan Journal of Environmental and Administrative Law. Mr. Washington was also elected president of the Property Tax Appeal Project and worked as a student attorney in the Veterans Legal Clinic.

- Represented a developer in $500 million of mortgage and mezzanine loans to finance the construction of two luxury apartment towers in Chicago
- Represented a life insurance company in $900 million of mortgage and mezzanine loans secured by 11 senior housing properties throughout the U.S.
- Represented a life insurance company in a $570 million loan secured by 64 industrial properties throughout the U.S.
- Represented an institutional investor in the $490 million acquisition of 51 industrial properties throughout the U.S.
- Represented an institutional investor in the acquisition and financing of a 190-unit multifamily apartment complex in Chicago
- Represented an institutional investor in the acquisition of a senior housing facility in Boulder, Colorado
- Represented a developer in the acquisition of two shopping malls in suburban Chicago
- Represented a developer in the sale of three office towers in suburban Denver
- Represented a developer in the sale of several retail lots within a multi-use development in suburban Chicago
- Represented a developer in the conversion of a Chicago apartment building into for-sale condominium units
- Represented a community land trust in the acquisition and preservation of affordable housing in Chicago
- Represented a nonprofit organization in the acquisition, financing, leasing and redevelopment of a Chicago industrial facility into a workforce training center
