Legal Strategies for Religious Institutions

Solutions for Faith-Based Schools and Health Care Providers

Faith-based institutions have unique missions of service and education guided by noble beliefs and values. However, those missions create special challenges and considerations.

The Religious Institutions Conference, organized by Holland & Knight LLP and Palm Beach Atlantic University, will be held Sept. 12 in West Palm Beach, Florida to offer insight and discuss solutions for leaders of faith-based schools and health care providers.

Religious institutions face employment issues, security threats, financial matters and many other issues impacted by their faith. Presentations at the conference will address these issues and more. Topics include:

  • Codes of conduct for staff and administrators
  • Financing facilities
  • Navigating the new Form 990
  • Security threats
  • Data privacy for education and healthcare institutions
  • Autonomy principles

Presenting attorneys from Holland & Knight include Nathan Adams, Mauricio D. Rivero, Shannon Hartsfield, Michelle Bedoya Barnett and Eddie Williams.

Conference organizers will also facilitate peer roundtable discussions to explore resolutions to the difficulties facing institutions of faith and their distinctive missions.

The one-day conference is free of charge. Leaders of faith-based hospitals, clinics and other health care providers as well as leaders of faith-based colleges, universities and K-12 schools are encouraged to attend.
