Implicit Bias in the Justice System

Former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida and Holland & Knight Partner Wifredo "Willy" Ferrer will moderate a panel titled, "Implicit Bias in the Justice System," at the Federal Bar Association's 2021 Annual Meeting & Convention in Miami. This panel will cover the definition of implicit bias and review the Implicit Association Test, as well as discuss how implicit biases influence the criminal justice system, including charging decisions, jury selection, and sentencing. Additionally, the panel will review approaches that the courts have taken to address implicit bias and other potential approaches.
