Litigation attorney Peter Hardy will join two panels at the 2025 AICPA Forensic & Valuation Services Conference, an annual event featuring sessions on forensic accounting and investigations, valuation and financial analysis, artificial intelligence (AI) and technology, and legal and regulatory updates affecting practitioners. Mr. Hardy's first presentation will target forensic accountants who serve as litigation consultants in criminal matters, laying out the rules in criminal court and how they differ from civil procedure. His second session will review how criminals are leveraging technological advancements, especially AI tools, to perpetrate fraud. He will cover schemes including ransomware and business email compromises as well as look at examples of how bad actors are using AI to manipulate audio and video recordings to simulate coworkers or other trusted individuals and extract payments in addition to using cryptocurrency and synthetic IDs for money laundering.
