3rd Advanced Forum on Global Export Controls

International Trade attorneys Daniel Goren and Christopher Stagg will participate in the American Conference Institute's (ACI) 3rd Advanced Forum on Global Export Controls, a two-day event gathering senior trade compliance and legal professionals for important conversations on how export controls have taken center stage and how companies should respond to mitigate risks and maintain due diligence. Holland & Knight will sponsor the conference, and Mr. Stagg and Mr. Goren will each speak on the first day of the program.

Mr. Stagg's presentation will review the latest developments involving the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Although Export Administration Regulations (EAR) remain relevant, the U.S. Department of State has introduced new policies and priorities signaling stronger enforcement on the ITAR front, including an expansion of the scope of the U.S. Munitions List. Mr. Stagg will break down the government's current and planned rulemaking initiatives and share practical steps for updating compliance programs to address these changes.

Mr. Goren's session will answer various questions about voluntary self-disclosure (VSD), from deciding when to disclose to the basic determination of whether a violation has occurred. Speakers will also talk about Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) policy changes around VSDs and discuss how recent consent agreements provide benchmarks for corporate trade compliance strategy. Audience members will additionally be able to submit questions during the presentation, allowing for an interactive workshop on how to respond to shifting regulatory priorities.
