Minds and Machines: AI Law and Ethics in Autonomous Systems
XPONENTIAL 2026 Law-Tech Connect Workshop
Detroit, Michigan 48226
Aviation Policy attorney Katie Inman will participate in the Law-Tech Connect Workshop, one of the co-located events at the 2026 XPONENTIAL conference, which will explore drone and autonomous transportation law and policy. Ms. Inman's panel will focus on the legal and ethical obligations that come with building and using autonomous systems and artificial intelligence (AI) tools. As AI factors more heavily into autonomy, robots and uncrewed operations and advanced software plays an increasingly outsize role in everyday practice, questions about liability and governance become more important. During her session, Ms. Inman will review how AI is being utilized in design and decision-making, what state, federal, international and even military regulations are influencing AI policy and how companies can manage AI compliance, bias risks and algorithmic accountability. She will also comment specifically on how the aviation industry is addressing these concerns as well as what steps industry leaders can take to foster responsible innovation.
