Healthcare and litigation attorney Henry Leventis will speak at the American Health Law Association's (AHLA) 2026 Fraud and Compliance Forum, a conference for healthcare attorneys and compliance professionals to gather and discuss current enforcement trends and litigation developments. The Washington, D.C., location will give attendees access to the federal officials investigating and enforcing fraud and abuse in the healthcare industry, offering the opportunity to ask questions and hear directly from government agencies such as the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (HHS-OIG) and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Henry's session will focus on laws and regulations governing controlled substances in clinical settings. The rules concern the acquisition, maintenance, distribution and wasting of these substances, and Henry will provide an overview of them alongside the agencies tasked with regulating drug diversion. He will also talk about high-profile drug diversion enforcement actions against healthcare facilities and providers, including criminal actions against individual providers, as well as share best practices for maintaining drug diversion compliance programs and what steps to take if you discover drug diversion within your organization.
