U.S. Offshore Wind Growth Brings Risk and Opportunity

Maritime attorneys Gerald Morrissey and Vincent Foley co-authored an article for The Marine Insurer about the marine risk and insurance implications of the projected growth in U.S. offshore wind farm construction needs. They highlight the role that the Jones Act may have on the availability of vessels for offshore wind projects in the U.S., but emphasize that there may be greater concerns over the vessels needed to construct and install turbines. The article also describes marine risk considerations for offshore projects including property damage, potential vessel casualty and associated marine pollution.
