HHS Report Card: Attys Grade Health Secretary's 1st Year

Law360

Senior Policy Advisor Miranda Franco was quoted by Law360 on the review of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS) Secretary Alex Azar's first year. Secretary Azar received grades that range from satisfactory to sterling for his work in battling high drug prices despite his Big Pharma background. Ms. Franco gave the secretary a grade of B and applauded the secretary's prioritization of value-based reimbursement.

"It is encouraging to see HHS committed to testing new approaches and models to pay for and deliver health care — specifically, Secretary Azar’s plan to better address social determinants of health," Ms. Franco said. "We need to address the unique needs of patients instead of offering a one-size-fits-all approach."
