Law360

Native American Law attorney Nicole Elliott and Senior Public Affairs Advisor Kayla Gebeck were quoted in a Law360 article which addresses new opportunity zone regulations that will provide investment opportunities in coordination with Native American tribes.

Ms. Elliott states that "There are a lot of people out there who are looking for ways to combine this incentive with other incentives," specifically citing several tax credits. She continues "... with opportunity zones, the tax benefit works when you have projects and businesses that are going to be successful."

Ms. Gebeck also weighs in on the leasing of business properties, adding that "... Indian Country has moved to leasing a lot of its property, and recognizing that these leases qualify as property in opportunity zones in making investments is really important, because that's one of Indian Country's primary sources of generating revenue."
