California is a Leader on Environmentalism
West Coast Land Use and Environment attorney Jennifer Hernandez was quoted in The Economist on California’s environmental efforts. The article discusses how California has increased its state’s environment benefits including the greenhouse-gas regulatory programme and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Although these new benefits are helping the environment, they are also affecting the cost of living. The state's petrol prices and electricity rates are increasing to meet various standards.
“California counts people and firms that move elsewhere as carbon reductions in its statistics, even though they are moving to states with higher emissions,” said Ms. Hernandez.
