International Trade Partner Antonia Tzinova was quoted in a Law360 article projecting how the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) will operate under a new Biden administration. She said she expects a "change in tone," with CFIUS quietly continuing its work with less attention and visibility than it had under the Trump administration. She added that it will still be focused on China and will still take action when it encounters a potentially problematic transaction.
"This has been consistent over the last few administrations," she said. "[The U.S. government] does view China as a particular threat to U.S. national security, both technologically and militarily. And CFIUS has taken a broader view in recent years on what is a threat to national security."
