Corporate Services Attorney Esteban García-Jimeno was interviewed for an Asuntos Legales article about the risk and obligations assumed when agreeing to serve as someone else's co-debtor. In this article, he describes some of the elements that differentiate a guarantor from a co-debtor.
"Co-debtors may not put the benefits of exemption or division first, so they will answer for the integrity of the obligation when it is due and required by the creditor," he explained.
