Buy American Act Changes Enhance Reshoring Trend
International Trade attorney Andrew McAllister spoke with SC BIZ News about the Buy American Act and the meaning behind the statement "manufactured in the United States." He explains that the phrase implies a step beyond assembly, meaning that the cost of the parts from the U.S. need to exceed a certain threshold of the cost of all components.
"It doesn’t mean you can never offer a foreign product," he said. "It’s more so you’re going to be penalized for providing that foreign product."
