Labor Dept Rule on Independent Contractors Likely to Land as Early as Tuesday - Sources

Labor, Employment and Benefits attorney Timothy Taylor was interviewed by Reuters about a proposed U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) rule that is expected to be released as early as Oct. 11. This rule will define whether workers for rideshare, retail and delivery companies are misidentified as independent contractors. Mr. Taylor said rules are regularly cleared in three weeks to a month, but the rule in question has been under evaluation for about three months. He insisted the long review period at the White House signifies that proposition by the DOL is either long or not what the White House was hoping to receive.

"And typically when that happens it is because the White House wants something more aggressive," he said.
