SAT Doubles Difficult-to-Collect Debts

Tax attorney Mario Barrera was cited in an article by Reforma discussing the Tax Administration Service (SAT) and the 1.79 billion pesos that it considers unlikely to recover. This is a figure that grew 111 percent compared to what was registered at the beginning of the current federal administration. Mr. Barrera spoke about how the prohibition of tax debt forgiveness may be a factor that could potentially be reevaluated.  

"(It would be necessary) to weigh the quality of the portfolio that it has and if, affectively, the probabilities of collecting are not the best, perhaps going for forgiveness and achieving partial collection," he said.
