Some of the measures include taking an inventory of digital properties and addressing nuances in estate planning to ensure they are handled according to your wishes and not lost or inaccessible. Mr. Kirk mentioned how it has been a challenge in the past for family members to access digital money after an unexpected accident happens without an established succession in place.

"Usually if you can’t access the wallet, the money’s gone. In this case they found the keys to the wallet, but it took a couple of years," he said.
