The rapid rise of e-commerce in the alcoholic beverage industry has generated a new age of legal dilemmas for technology platform companies and their retail partners

Alcohol Beverage attorney Jason Barker spoke to the Portland Business Journal about the rise of e-commerce in alcoholic beverage marketing and sales and how technology platform companies are able to operate within the alcoholic beverage industry without holding licenses. Mr. Barker also touched on critical considerations going forward with respect to the lawful operation of third party providers (TPPs).
"The most pressing question is whether the operation of TPPs will be 'officially' legal in the vast majority of the states given that only a plurality of the states have actually issued guidance or created a legal framework in support of TPPs," he said.
