Quantum Research Is in the Spotlight on Capitol Hill as Funding Expiration Approaches

Public Policy & Regulation attorney Paul Stimers was quoted in a Tech Brew article discussing quantum technology's importance in maintaining a competitive advantage and potential commercial and military applications. In 2018, Congress designated $1.2 billion for research and development in quantum technologies as part of the National Quantum Initiative Act. With the funding expiring later this year, Mr. Stimers pointed out that Congress is expected to grant reauthorization "relatively quickly with strong bipartisan support."

"There's broad agreement across the Hill and in the administration that quantum is worth investing in," he said. "You routinely see it mentioned as one of the top 10 technologies we need to be pouring resources into."
