New York Real Estate Practice Group Leader Stuart Saft was interviewed by the Thomson Reuters Practical Law Journal, where he discussed the evolution of real estate finance amid a changing economic landscape and legislative and regulatory changes. Mr. Saft highlighted the current challenges facing real estate attorneys as a result of the overleveraged commercial real estate market and probable loan extensions as an alternative to foreclosures. When asked what career advice he would give junior attorneys, Mr. Saft emphasized the importance of communication, not becoming attached to strategies and taking advantage of learning opportunities.

"Never fall in love with a strategy because few strategies survive the commencement of a negotiation or litigation," he said.
