The New Peril Facing Boeing If It Pleads Guilty to U.S. Criminal Charge
Litigation attorney Eddie Jauregui was quoted in a recent Yahoo Finance article about Boeing's ongoing legal battles. After a door plug malfunction in January, federal prosecutors agreed not to move forward with a charge alleging the company defrauded the federal government in exchange for enhanced compliance and ethics practices for safer manufacturing and oversight. The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) now believes Boeing has violated the agreement and is considering a new criminal charge. If the company decides to plead guilty, the conviction can stop or suspend its ability to contract with the federal government, its largest customer. Mr. Jauregui weighed in on the potential implications.
"The considerations are many, and they are weighty," he said. "I think the government contract work is probably an extremely important component for Boeing."
