How to Minimize Quantum Whiplash
Public Policy & Regulation attorney Paul Stimers recently spoke with Inside Quantum Technology News on the urgency of implementing post-quantum cryptography (PQC) standards. PQC protocols aim to protect data from decryption by future quantum computers. The article suggested while some organizations, such as those in cybersecurity and finance, must lead in PQC adoption, others should seriously consider implementation to avoid future justification for inaction. Mr. Stimers commented on several aspects of PQC implementation, including questions surrounding liability, and he used an analogy of a car crash to explain the importance of adopting these practices — just as once an accident has happened, the damage has been done, once a cybercrime has taken place, the information has been stolen.
