Real Estate attorney Esteban García was quoted in Portafolio commenting on the legal framework governing rural property in Colombia. He emphasized that it is essential to have clear and stable rules to coordinate land restitution, formalization and adjudication, thereby strengthening legal protections in rural areas.
Formalization "aims to assign property titles to those who have the quality of landowners, but are not owners," he explained, which in turn facilitates greater legal certainty and access to financial services.
