Holland & Knight Receives 2012 Private Asset Management Award

NEW YORK – February 13, 2012 – Holland & Knight announced today that it received the award for 2012 Best Law Firm -Private Client from Private Asset Management (PAM) magazine. The PAM award recognizes leading firms in the wealth management and advisory community for their work with the private asset management industry.

“We are excited and honored to be the 2012 recipient of this award,” said Ed Koren, leader of Holland & Knight's Private Wealth Services Group. “It is great recognition for our private wealth attorneys and their dedication to planning and protecting the financial interests of our private wealth clients.”

Holland & Knight was judged by an independent panel of industry experts who reviewed each law firm applicant. The firm was acknowledged and rewarded for successfully servicing high-net-worth individuals in 2011, amidst an increasingly complex economic and tax environment.

While most large law firms have abandoned trusts and estates practices, Holland & Knight continues to strategically position itself as the largest and most sophisticated estate planning, administration and litigation group of any law firm in the United States. The Private Wealth Services Group, a flagship group within the firm, consists of over 80 attorneys throughout the U.S. including in the firm's Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Portland, Tampa, and Washington offices, as well as others.

Holland & Knight's wealth planning attorneys design and implement countless comprehensive lifetime wealth transfer plans for very wealthy individuals, multigenerational families and international clients using a broad range of sophisticated strategies and techniques that remain responsive to changes in the client's current situation and future goals. The practice also handles a significant amount of trust and estate dispute resolution matters for a client roster that features numerous, well-known, high-net-worth individuals, including entrepreneurs, public company executives, private equity principals, hedge fund managers, venture capitalists, and entertainers. Fiduciary litigation teams are currently involved in New York in the Estate of Huguette M. Clark, who died at 104 years old, and in California with Mickey Rooney's elder abuse case, as well as numerous other fiduciary dispute resolution matters.

“I joined Holland & Knight because the firm fully supported and provided a strong platform for my private wealth clients,” said John Dadakis, the New York office's Group leader who accepted the award on behalf of the Private Wealth Services Group. “This award is a testament to the firm's leadership and the incredible work done by our team of wealth planning attorneys.”

In addition to the PAM award, the practice and individual lawyers have been recognized by many other prestigious publications, such as Chambers & Partners USA and Best Lawyers. The PAM awards were presented at a reception hosted by Private Asset Management magazine on February 7 in New York.
