Holland & Knight Partner Paul Kilmer Recognized as Intellectual Property Trailblazer by National Law Journal
WASHINGTON (June 22, 2016) – Holland & Knight Partner Paul Kilmer has been named an Intellectual Property Trailblazer by the National Law Journal. Mr. Kilmer is among a select group of attorneys recognized by the publication as outstanding practitioners who have made their mark in various aspects of legal work in the areas of patent, copyright, trademark and trade secret law. He is profiled in a special "Intellectual Property Trailblazers" supplement, which was published in the May 30 issue.
Mr. Kilmer practices in the areas of trademark, copyright and unfair competition law. He is experienced in trademark and copyright registration and protection worldwide, negotiating intellectual property license and assignment agreements, litigation, import issues, intellectual property aspects of mergers and acquisitions, internet domain name matters, and counseling in the fields of the right of publicity, labeling and false advertising law.
National Law Journal notes that Mr. Kilmer founded of the Trademark Working Group in 2013. The organization includes in-house counsel from Fortune 500 companies, certification mark owners and smaller companies with international business operations representing a broad range of industries and service sectors. The group’s goal is to collect information from U.S. businesses and foreign law firms regarding trademark laws and practices abroad that deny adequate and effective protection to trademark rights.
"Now trademark owners have a voice, particularly around the Special 301 processes," said Mr. Kilmer. "When the U.S. Trade Representative negotiates with foreign countries, our Global Trademark Report Card is one of the things that they pack in their suitcase."
