Andres Fernandez Elected President of South Florida Banking Institute

Holland & Knight Partner Andres "Andy" Fernandez was elected president of the South Florida Banking Institute (SFBI) for 2017-2018. He previously served on the SFBI board of directors.

The SFBI is a non-profit professional organization that serves as a resource for bankers seeking to expand their knowledge and capabilities by providing high-quality research, products and services.

Mr. Fernandez practices in the area of banking law and financial services, with a focus on licensing, regulatory and compliance matters. With an emphasis on issues pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act, anti-money laundering and Office of Foreign Assets Control, Mr. Fernandez counsels a broad range of clients such as domestic community banks, foreign banks, broker dealers and money service businesses (including virtual/digital currency). He also serves as the leader of Holland & Knight’s Cuba Action Team.

For the past two years, Mr. Fernandez has been named a “Power Leader in Banking and Finance” by the South Florida Business Journal. He is also consistently recognized as a leading lawyer in his field by Chambers USA.
