MIAMI (December 20, 2018) – Holland & Knight represented Miami-based Quirch Foods, Co., a leading distributor and exporter of protein and Hispanic food products, and the Quirch family in connection with a significant investment by New York-based Palladium Equity Partners, LLC. The deal closed on December 20.
Palladium will partner with Quirch to help expand the company's market reach via a series of growth initiatives, including expansion into new product offerings and geographies, and potential acquisitions in the food distribution industry.
Quirch distributes beef, pork, poultry, seafood and other retail products to independent and ethnic grocers in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, U.S. national retailers and Latin American export markets. The company's extensive portfolio of owned and licensed brands includes Panamei Seafood®, Mambo® and Chiquita Frozen®.
Palladium is a middle market private equity firm with approximately $3 billion in assets under management. The company's current and past investments in the food industry include Spice World, Kar's Nuts, Del Real Foods, GoodWest Industries, Teasdale Foods, Sahale Snacks, Wise Foods and Castro Cheese.
Holland & Knight's representation of Quirch was led by Partners David Barkus and Jordan Taylor, and Senior Counsel Marybeth O'Keefe. Tax Partner Bill Sherman also assisted.
