Christopher Nolan Recognized Globally as Top 10 Maritime Lawyer by Lloyd’s List
NEW YORK (December 11, 2019) – Holland & Knight Partner Christopher R. Nolan has been named one of the "Top 10 Maritime Lawyers 2019" globally by Lloyd’s List, a leading shipping industry publication. This is the second year in a row that Mr. Nolan has been selected for this list of the most influential lawyers in the global maritime industry. He is the only American lawyer included by the influential publication and one of only two lawyers to be selected in both 2018 and 2019.

Mr. Nolan is co-chair of Holland & Knight's Transportation and Infrastructure Group. He concentrates on shipping, focusing mainly on dispute resolution arising from charterparties, bills of lading, fire and explosion, total loss, limitation and insolvency. He is regularly retained on behalf of Hull underwriters and P&J Clubs on marine insurance matters. Mr. Nolan acts as national counsel for a major ocean carrier and as such is frequently instructed in cargo disputes and contamination claims. In the last decade, he has developed a niche focus on the early resolution of thorny matters destined for court or arbitration.
Mr. Nolan is the secretary of the American Bar Association's Tort, Trial and Insurance Practice Section, one of the ABA's largest sections. He was chair of the Admiralty & Maritime Law Committee in 2011-2012 when it won the section's Overall Excellence award and has served in a host of other leadership roles in the organization over the past decade. Currently, he also serves as the Maritime Law Association of the United States' certified liaison to the ABA.
Mr. Nolan is one of only 19 international shipping lawyers ranked in the 2019 edition of Chambers Global: The World's Leading Lawyers for Business. He also is ranked by Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business in the category of Transportation: Shipping: Litigation (New York).
