Jamie Billotte Moses Honored with Prestigious Tobias Simon Pro Bono Service Award

ORLANDO, Fla. (January 22, 2024) – The Florida Supreme Court honored Holland & Knight Partner Jamie Billotte Moses with the 2024 Tobias Simon Pro Bono Service Award for more than 25 years of pro bono volunteer service. The award, presented in a ceremony by Chief Justice Carlos Muniz on January 18, is the Florida Supreme Court's highest recognition of a private attorney for pro bono service.

Ms. Moses, a board certified appellate attorney, served as a guardian ad litem for The Legal Aid Society of the Orange County Bar Association. She has represented more than 26 abused, abandoned and neglected children in Orange County. Additionally, in the past two years alone, Ms. Moses has had more than 14 cases for which she wrote pro bono appellate briefs where the judge terminated the parental rights. She has also volunteered almost 400 hours of service in the past 13 years on more than 30 cases.

Awarded annually since 1982, the Tobias Simon Pro Bono Service Award commemorates Miami lawyer Tobias Simon, who was a tireless civil rights attorney, a crusader for prison reform and an appellate authority. The award is intended to encourage and recognize extraordinary contributions by Florida lawyers in making legal services available to people who otherwise could not afford them, and to focus public awareness on the substantial voluntary services rendered by Florida lawyers.
