Former IDB Invest Lead Counsel Jose Tadeo Martinez Joins Holland & Knight in Washington, D.C.
WASHINGTON (September 9, 2024) – Holland & Knight has strengthened its Financial Services Team with the addition of Jose Tadeo Martinez as a partner in Washington, D.C. Mr. Martinez's practice includes structured and corporate finance, financial products design, private equity, private debt and venture capital investments, development financial institutions (DFIs), resource mobilization, impact investing, restructuring, workouts and contract enforcement. He was previously lead counsel with IDB Invest, a multilateral development bank committed to promoting the economic development of its member countries in Latin America and the Caribbean through the private sector.
The addition of Mr. Martinez continues the firm's commitment to the growth of its Latin American Practice. Mr. Martinez's international experience and recognition in Latin America is a significant development for the firm's Latin America finance practice, a team of U.S.-based lawyers who have deep roots in Latin America and handle a broad range of corporate finance, project finance and capital markets transactions throughout the region.

With nearly 25 years of experience in transactional law and dispute resolution, Mr. Martinez has advised lenders and investors in more than 200 cross-border transactions, including debt, quasi-equity and equity products. In addition, he has in-depth knowledge and experience with the design and implementation of complex resource mobilization initiatives.

Mr. Martinez earned J.D. and M.S. degrees from the Central University of Venezuela and an LL.M. degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
