Janine Andrea Acosta

Janine Acosta is an environmental attorney in Holland & Knight's Bogotá office, where she focuses her practice in environmental permitting and sanction proceedings in the mining and energy industries.

Ms. Acosta has experience advising companies in managing environmental instruments, including acquiring environmental licenses and permits, assignments, modification requests and regulatory follow-up, before the appropriate authorities. She also advises clients on the design and implementation of defense strategies in environmental sanctions proceedings, with an approach centered on legally sound and cost-effective solutions.

In addition to her legal practice, Ms. Acosta is an active member of Women in Mining, an organization committed to advancing the participation and leadership of women across the mining industry.

Prior to rejoining Holland & Knight, Ms. Acosta served as in-house legal counsel at a mining company, where she oversaw legal support across all mining and environmental processes of the organization. She also advised on engagement with environmental and mining authorities, execution of productive projects and shutdown of operations.

Ms. Acosta began her legal career at Holland & Knight, where she developed her foundational practice in natural resources and environmental law before gaining firsthand experience in the mining industry.
