Overview
Mercedes Bárcena is a senior policy advisor in Holland & Knight's Mexico City office, and focuses her practice on navigating Mexico's sociopolitical landscape. With a deep understanding of federal policy and regulatory processes, Ms. Bárcena actively engages with policymakers, federal agencies and stakeholders.
Ms. Bárcena's background extends to assisting companies in the energy, sustainability, food and beverage, and banking sectors, guiding them through political and legislative landscapes to identify risks and opportunities. Her successful representation of large companies before Mexico's Congress and the executive branch reflects her commitment to achieving development and good practices goals.
Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Ms. Bárcena served as an intern at the Embassy of Mexico in Washington, D.C., where her work involved analyzing the approval of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the past votes of representatives, as well as covering congressional hearings on U.S. southern border migration.
In addition, Ms. Bárcena has completed certification courses through Compliance in Conflicts of Interest, Guide to Compliant Gifts and Hospitality, and Global Anti-Bribery Compliance Challenge for Intermediaries.
