Natalia Cardona González is a customs and international trade attorney in Holland & Knight's Mexico City office. Ms. Cardona González focuses her practice on Mexican customs regulatory compliance and international trade transactions.
Ms. Cardona González has extensive experience in conducting internal audits and due diligence for Mexican entities engaged in import and export operations to ensure full compliance with Mexican customs laws, foreign trade regulations, foreign trade promotion programs and authorizations. She also advises domestic and international corporations on strategic planning and compliance with Mexican customs laws and foreign trade regulations.
Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Ms. Cardona González worked as a customs and foreign trade lawyer for other leading Mexican law firms.

- Handled various due diligence for Mexican companies engaged in import and export operations to ensure compliance with Mexican customs regulations, advising on strategies for risk mitigation
- Provided legal analysis on compliance with applicable customs regulations for import and export operations
- Carried out on-site audits to verify legal status of fixed assets and equipment for different industries, as well as review documentary compliance
- Implemented value added tax (VAT) certification and provided ongoing advisory on their maintenance and compliance
- Implemented foreign trade promotion programs, specifically the Manufacturing, Maquila and Export Services (IMMEX) Program and Sectorial Promotion Programs (PROSEC), as well as provided ongoing advisory on their maintenance and compliance
- Advised domestic and international corporations on strategic planning and compliance with free trade agreements
- Participated in the defense of companies through conclusive agreements, appeals and nullity claims against imposed tax assessments by the Mexican Tax Authority on customs matters, origin affairs and foreign trade issues
