Mark A. Kreitman

Mark Kreitman represents private equity funds, direct investors, lenders and borrowers investing in affordable housing that uses tax credit benefits, helping them structure and close complex, multilayered financings. Based in New York, Mark is a member of Holland & Knight's Tax Credit & Community Development Finance Practice and has worked in the tax credits arena for more than 30 years.

Over the course of his career, Mark has helped clients close nearly $10 billion of equity and debt in affordable housing investment vehicles. He is well versed in transactions that combine federal and state tax credits with tax-exempt bonds and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) financing, which often involve public housing agencies and nonprofit developers.

Mark advises on acquisition and rehabilitation transactions in which state housing agencies issue short-term, tax-exempt bonds to generate low-income housing tax credits (LIHTCs), as well as on historic rehabilitation tax credits. He also counsels clients on structuring multi-investor syndications, developing public-private partnerships for urban neighborhood revitalization and creating tax-advantaged investment programs.

Mark closely tracks tax reform developments on Capitol Hill and advises clients on how to position themselves for potential outcomes. That legislative awareness, combined with three decades of transactional experience, helps clients make informed investment decisions in a changing policy environment.
