Biografía

Nicholas M. Hasenfus is an attorney in Holland & Knight's Boston office who concentrates his practice on technology transactions, intellectual property (IP) licensing, electric vehicle (EV) charging systems, transportation, information technology (IT) and data privacy and security.

Mr. Hasenfus has extensive experience representing clients in a wide range of industries, including technology, transportation, healthcare, energy, construction, insurance, hospitality, retail, finance, education and real estate. He also has deep experience in overseeing multidisciplinary legal teams in complex and strategic negotiations related to technology, IP, IT and EV charging systems. His practice includes the resolution of disputes over IP rights through alternative dispute resolution channels as well as litigation. The Legal 500 USA 2024 guide said Mr. Hasenfus brings "an abundance of experience to bear on formulating creative solutions especially in new or emerging areas such as cloud computing."

Community Involvement

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Hasenfus was a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. Mr. Hasenfus is passionate about his commitment to legal aid and community service. He actively provides pro bono representation to service members, veterans and their families regarding the unique legal challenges they face before the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and with state law issues. Mr. Hasenfus also provides pro bono representation to service members seeking discharge upgrades. He served on Legal Services Corporation's (LSC) Veterans Task Force, an initiative to assist former military service members in overcoming legal problems that create barriers as they transition from active duty to civilian life, and he currently serves on its implementation committee. LSC is the nation's largest funder of civil legal aid for low-income people.

Within Holland & Knight, Mr. Hasenfus serves on the Boston office's Hiring Committee and as Pro Bono Chair of the Veterans Group.

Previously, Mr. Hasenfus was a law clerk to the Honorable Joseph A. Trainor of the Massachusetts Appeals Court. While attending law school, Mr. Hasenfus taught constitutional law to inner-city high school students as a Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Fellow.
